In a great performance in the boiling sunshine, the lads rolled their sleeves up and gave us a real Avros performance which resulted in a fine 1-3 away win at Charnock. The home side are a very tough, physical side who have several years experience now in the NWCFL, and in Carl Grimshaw they have one of the most prolific scorers at semi-pro level. Louis Potts out us in front with a cracking shot, and then Jake Pollard doubled the score at half time. The home side came out after the break and caught us off guard, pulling a goal back almost immediately. Credit to the lads, and there was no panic and we continued to play our high intensity attacking football which with the introduction of Joe Bevan and Ashley Ainsworth was looking like increasing our score all the time. We escaped a couple of times at the back and rode our luck for once before Joe Bevan struck the third with 10 minutes to go. There was still time for Louis Potts to hit the post before the whistle blew on our first 3 points in the Premier Division.
The whole squad was superb, taking up from where they had left off in Wednesday night, and hopefully now this can be a springboard for the rest of the season beginning on Saturday in the FA Vase when we welcome Selby Town, top of the NCEL First Division. (3pm)
