Mission Accomplished with a 2 goal lead to bring back to the Vestacare Stadium in the NWCFL Division 1 Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg.

After more storm damage at the BBW Stadium in Bacup saw the game postponed, we finally managed to get the game played after temporary repairs were completed by Bacup. The weather was kind to us again, and the pitch was heavy and bumpy but playable. A crowd of around 100 saw a disciplined performance from Avros, with the defence showing again how they have the best goals against record in the entire division, having conceded just 36 league goals in the whole campaign. We got off to a flyer, with a returning Kane Wallwork firing home with a direct free-kick that the home keeper failed to hold after only 7 minutes. 0-1.
It was difficult to play our normal passing game on the pitch but we still were the side dominating and looked liked adding to the scoreline. The second goal finally came just after the break with a header from Michael Stockdale which gave the keeper no chance. There were further Avro chances with both Daniel Grimshaw and substitute James Hampson hitting the woodwork, as well as a couple of very good saves from the Bacup keeper, to keep them in the tie. The game finished 0-2, our 3rd visit to Bacup this season, and our 3rd win. Bacup are a very decent side, and we know that they are still in the tie. Our aim was to come away from the BBW Stadium with something to take back to the Vestacare, and so it was Mission Accomplished for us. The 2nd Leg takes place tomorrow, Wednesday 27th March KO 8pm.
