Cumbrians hit for 7 at the Vestacare

When we travelled up to Carlisle at the end of September, the 4-2 defeat was described by some at Carlisle as the best game of football they'd seen at home in the NWCFL. We'd tore into a 0-2 lead, then let it slip including missing a penalty. Carlisle then showed that the result against us was no fluke as they kept neck and neck with Longridge. This time there was determination in the Avro camp that lightning wouldn't strike twice, and we all felt like we needed to work the defeat up at Carlisle out of our systems.
In a fairly even first half, a well worked goal from Jack Turnbull after some good work by Jake Pollard had put us into an early lead after 5 minutes. Jack has impressed in the Avro midfield since joining from Chadderton, and now has 3 goals in Avro colours. The Sky Blues came back at us, and Marc Shiel equalised on the half hour, being the first to react to young keeper Jordan Latham failing to hold on to a shot and making no mistake putting the ball past Jordan. With the last kick of the game the visitors hit the crossbar, our luck holding and we went in all square. HT: 1-1
In the 2nd half the heavens opened, it also rained goals as first Joe Bevan deflected a Jake Pollard shot into the net to restore our advantage. The players were now playing in difficult conditions of driving rain, but now we seemed to step up a gear and Man of The Match Ryan Hanson but clear space between us with a great run and shot to make it 3- 1 on 61'. Sub Duncan Knott then treated us to another of his quality strikes, Duncan doesn't do tap ins this season and another fine goal left the Carlisle keeper no chance. The goal took Duncan into double figures for the season, which is pretty good going considering its been a bit of a stop/start season for him so far. Louis Potts was the next to the party again, with a strong run and finish through the keeper. The goal puts Pottsy into 2nd place in the race for the Avro Golden Boot 2018/19. Another goal for Ryan Hanson before Mike Stockdale wrapped up the scoring in the non-stop rain. FT 7-1
The lads were unplayable 2nd half, and the result was no reflection on Carlisle City, who although they had a couple of players missing, were still a very good side who asked questions of us, particularly in the first half. We go on to a tough away game next Saturday 2nd Feb (3pm) at Garstang. All support is 100% appreciated by everyone.
