A great crowd of over 100 watched us get the 3 points in the Boxing Day clash with neighbours Chadderton. Chaddy were coming to us off the back of 3 wins on the bounce for the first time this season, and with the confidence of having beaten us in the Manchester Premier Cup tie at Andrew St. We had a few notable absences in Dan Grimshaw and Jack Poxon, but Kane Wallwork and Neil Sagar came into the full back positions. Boxing Day games are notorious for the form book going out of the window, and we saw with results elsewhere that was the case. We started off well and deservedly took the lead in the 11th minute with what was arguably our best move of the game, good work down the right by Joe Bevan saw the ball go across the six yard box to Jake Pollard who finished, simple but effective football. Dale Latham in the Chadderton goal was in inspired form, and kept us out on numerous occasions, also Joe Bevan saw a superbly taken chance go just over. Chadderton never really threatened and when they did break through they found Jordan Latham in confident form, gathering up everything. The second half was brought to life when Nathan Connor saw a 2nd yellow for an elbow in the face of Louis Potts. There could be no complaints from the visitors who could've had several players in the book before the referee took action. If we thought that would open the floodgates we were wrong. The 10 men of Chadderton defended well, and played better than when they had 11. Jack Turnbull going the closest to levelling the game when he slipped past our centre halves and seemed certain to score but for a great save from Jordan Latham. Duncan Knott had a well executed overhead kick saved as we pushed for the second goal to make the game safe, but eventually the final whistle went and we took the 3 points from the first ever league meeting between our 2 clubs.
